Year 11 Examination Information
This page gives information about the following exam series:
- Mini-Mocks – held in November 2026
- Mocks – held in January 2027
- GCSEs – held in May and June 2027
Mini-Mocks – November 2026
One exam in most subjects, over the course of one week – to give pupils an experience of sitting exams under exam conditions
Examination Timetable to be released on 9th October 2026
Mocks – January 2027
A full exam experience, condensed into two weeks
Because the Mocks are held over just a fortnight, they will feel more pressured than the GCSE exam series; unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to alleviate this, but will stand pupils in good stead for their GCSEs
Examination Timetable to be released on 9th October 2026
GCSEs – May and June 2027
The ‘real deal’ – written exams held over five full weeks, from 10th May to 23rd June
The Art exam and French Speaking exam will be sat in early May
Information for candidates from JCQ
The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) work with the major Awarding Bodies (including all four that Chetwynde use for GCSEs) to ensure the arrangements for exams and assessments are fair, consistent and run smoothly for everyone concerned
Please find below links to information for candidates published by JCQ – this information is updated annually, early in the academic year
Equipment for Examinations
Pupils must have a clear pencil case with all of the relevant equipment for the examination they are sitting – dependant on the subject and/or paper, this may include:
- Black pen, and spare
- Pencil, and spare
- Pencil sharpener
- Highlighter, and spare (for use on questions only)
- Eraser
- Ruler
- Protractor
- Pair of compasses
- Scientific calculator
The school will provide tracing paper (for use in Mathematics examinations) and there will be spare pens and pencils – however, the school will not provide any other equipment for examinations.
It is the responsibility of pupils to be properly equipped for their examinations.
