Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Chetwynde we look to ensure that all students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEND) or a physical disability, are included fully in all aspects of school life, including the curriculum, extra-curricular activities and school trips.

The level of support given by our specialist teams in both the senior and primary schools is entirely tailored to the needs of the individual and we work in partnership with parents to get it right.

Where appropriate, our SEND teams work with external agencies to ensure the delivery of effective special educational needs provision for every child.

Our Primary Coordinator (Primary SENDCo) is Grace Pickering

Our Senior Coordinator (Senior SENDCo) is Annali Bell

If parents and carers would like some impartial information, advice or support on any issues relating to their children’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND),
they can contact the Cumbria SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) who can offer a range of support.

Cumbria SENDIASS

We will help parents, carers and young people to prepare for meetings with schools or the local authority and practically support them at the meetings in an appropriate and impartial manner; in addition, we can also signpost to other relevant support networks.
